7/3/2020 ATTENTION ALL VETERANS! American Legion Post 68, Leland July Meeting CANCELLATION!!

Considering the ongoing need for COVID-19 related social distancing, and restrictions on indoor gatherings, the July 16th in-person membership meeting of the John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68, Leland is hereby cancelled. However, a virtual July meeting is under consideration.  The Post 68 Executive Committee will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and communicate in a timely manner our decision about a July virtual meeting and the scheduled August 20th meeting.   We will send out regular updates with any Post information on an as needed basis.

The John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68, Leland meets at 6:00pm every third Thursday of the month at the Magnolia Greens Golf Course, Blossoms Restaurant Banquet Room, 1800 Tommy Jacobs Dr., Leland, NC 28451.  All Veterans are welcome to attend.

 

5/52/2020 North Brunswick High School JROTC Cadets Receive American Legion Post 68 Awards

Each year, the John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 Leland, NC presents military and scholastic excellence awards and a college scholarship to deserving North Brunswick High School JROTC Cadets. The award recipients are selected based on strict criteria and the recommendations of COL (Ret.) Steven Baker, JROTC Senior Army Instructor and First Sergeant (Ret.) George Williams, JROTC Army Instructor.  Due to school closings as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Thursday May 14, 2020 awards ceremony took place informally on the high school grounds.  The Star News published a story on the Awards, see LINK.

Recipients were:

Cadet Captain Kwesi Clarke: The American Legion Post 68 JROTC Scholastic Excellence Award of $100 and Certificate of Excellence

Cadet Captain Tyler Herrmann: The American Legion Post 68 William F. Walsh Military Excellence Award of $100 and Certificate of Excellence.

Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Liana Slade: The John E. Jacobs Scholarship of $500 and recognition plaque.

5/4/2020 Special Parade for WW-II Veteran Alex Moskowitz of Leyte/Phillippine/Okinawaw Campaigns

Members of John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68, Leland, Kenneth Gore American Legion Post 550, Shallotte, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 12196, Leland and local Legion Riders along with local Patriot Guard Riders will be celebrating the 97th birthday of World War 2 veteran Alex Moskowitz with a drive-by “party” on Wednesday, May 6th at his home in Supply.  SEE MORE HERE

 

2/6/2020 Post 68 Presents Donation to the North Brunswick HS JROTC Air Rifle Shooting Team

01/11/2020 North Brunswick High School Senior Places First in American Legion Post 68 Oratorical Speech Competition

Bailey Smith, a senior at North Brunswick High School (NBHS), placed first in the John E.
