The American Legion, along with volunteers and related organizations, places American flags on veterans' graves before Memorial Day to honor the fallen. This tradition typically involves placing flags the Saturday before and removing them shortly after the holiday. This year, the flags will be placed on graves on May 23rd. Flags will be distributed to each team, and are provided by Post 68. After the teams finish with the cemeteries assigned, we will all gather at the Hooper Cemetery (Hooper Rd Leland) to present a wreath at the grave of John E. Jacobs (our post namesake) at 11:15 am. At the conclusion of this presentation, participating members are invited to meet for lunch and fellowship at The Pit Backyard Barbeque, Waterford Shopping Center in Leland at 1:00pm (at your own expense). Please volunteer to join us on this most solemn occasion.
