To join an American Legion post in North Carolina, you must be a veteran who served at least one day on federal active duty since December 7, 1941, or be currently serving honorably,

and possess a DD214 or similar proof of service.

A. Eligibility: Active duty or honorable discharge during designated war periods (WWII to present).

B. Documentation: A copy of your DD214 or similar discharge documentation is required.

C. Application: Submit the application and documentation to this post, and we will review it for approval.

Annual dues for Post 68 of $50.00 are required. Dues collection for each new year begins on 1 July. Any member who has not paid their dues for the upcoming year by 1 January will have an expired membership and suspended voting rights, until their dues are paid and their membership is again brought current.

Post 68 allows members to pay their dues in one of 3 ways:

1. Pay in Person at meetings:  This is the preferred and most efficient method. Members may come to our scheduled meetings and can bring a check or cash to pay their dues.  The membership chair or designee will accept your dues and provide you with a new ID card.

2. Pay your dues ONLINE:  For your convenience, you may pay by debit or credit card right here on our site. If, for any reason you are unable to pay here, you may contact the Finance Officer for assistance. Online payments can also be made on the National Legion HQ website, mylegion.org, and payment will then eventually (usually quarterly) be credited to our post. If you pay your dues online using a webpage from National Legion HQ, you can print off your ID card or obtain a copy of it from our Adjutant.

3. Pay your dues by mail:  All members (except Paid Up For Life members) will receive a renewal notice in the mail from American Legion Headquarters.  This notice has a invoice and envelope that can be mailed  to our Post PO box.  The Adjutant will receive your letter, mark you as paid, and mail you a new ID card. This is not our preferred method, as it requires many steps to accomplish and takes time.  It is, however, available to you as an option should you choose to use it. Our mailing address is: American Legion Post 68, PO Box 521, Leland, NC  28451.

We hope that you consider using your service to your country to continue serving your fellow veterans.
